Promoting wellness at work

Happy Friday! I can't believe that today is the last day of my vacation! Don't worry, I have been pretty productive these past two weeks. In fact, I am currently in the process of organizing a better lifestyle initiative for my colleagues that's inspired by the hit television show, the "Biggest Loser." For those of y'all who don't know, the season premier is this Sunday and I cannot wait to reunite with Dolvett , Bob, Jillian, and Alison. This season is especially touching because they are tackling childhood obesity for the first time; I love that they are addressing this serious issue! I appreciate that this show allows me to  hear the contestants' stories and see their weekly transformation because it inspires me to take action of my own health and recognize that it's a journey. I honestly believe that the hardest part of the journey is starting. I'd love to hear what inspires you to stay motivated and getting yours!

I've drafted some guidelines to share with my colleagues and I am requesting your input. Do you think that my suggestions are realistic and/or do you have suggestions that will  better promote overall wellness success?
  1. Every participants information will remain confidential.
  2. Participants are on the honor system and should participate in a healthy and fair manner.
  3. There is a $20.00 registration fee that will go towards the winners' prize money. Winners are determined by percentage of total weight loss because this is a fairer comparison than total pounds lost.  First place gets 70% of the money, 2nd place gets 20% and 3rd place gets 10%. Starting date for the competition is the first week of classes, Tuesday, January 15, 2012.
  4. Ending date for the competition is the last week of classes, Tuesday, April 23, 2012.
  5. We are going to have mandatory weekly weight-ins every Tuesday. Weighs ins will be done at the same location, on the same scale, by the same person. Eileen will serve as our representative. She will send a weekly email sharing the 3 "Biggest Losers" of the week. Please note that she will not share lbs but percentages.
  6. Diet pills, water pills, laxatives, etc are prohibited unless prescribed for a medical condition such as high blood pressure.
  7. Everyone who is participating in this initiative is doing so on a voluntary basis. Your participation in our Biggest Loser initiative is on your own time and this activity is not work related or work required.
  8. It is assumed that everyone who is participating believes they are in good enough health to safely participate in the Biggest Loser competition. If you have any doubt, it is advisable that you clear this activity with your doctor before participating.
Thank you in advance for the input that you'll share with me through email, phone, and social media. Don't worry friends, I will make sure to keep you posted on my progress... starting with my "before pictures" below. PS- just for the record, I intentionally chose an unflattering outfit and angles because it will make my "after pictures" look that much better ;).
